Sonia Nieves is the Senior Clinical Research Coordinator for the Biobank and works closely with the CDDOM Disparities Biobank Program Director/ Center Administrator to ensure proper implementation of the project. She has been with The University of Arizona for more than 16 years, and has worked in various projects along the U.S.-Mexico border area. Her programmatic, research, and administrative experience has brought her to the Center. Sonia obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Arizona. She enjoys lending her voice to public service announcements, radio commercials or on-line applications for children (Sonia was the voice of the Evil Diana Betes in the “Don’t Monkey Around with Diabetes” app by the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health).
