Alexis Soto, BS
Mr. Alexis Soto is Manager of Clinical Research Development and Operations for the UA Center for Disparities in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism and Operations Director for El Banco por Salud. Mr. Soto is responsible for the day-today operational oversight of UA CDDOM's primary research initiative, El Banco por Salud program, as well as the center's other research initiatives and the center's Community Advisory Board. Alexis's operational oversight includes hiring, training, and supervising research personnel such as senior research coordinator(s), research coordinator(s), researcher specialist, and research technicians, developing team schedules, scheduling study dates in partnership with clinical site leadership, and assuring protocol compliance. In addition, Alexis assist in developing research protocols and policies, IRB applications, and workflows based on study designs. Additional responsibilities include assisting the Deputy Director to provide guidance to the UA CDDOM Biorepository unit leader. Furthermore, Alexis is responsible for regulatory compliancy, documentation, and reporting, as well as assisting with other research operational duties such as maintaining all study records. During his undergraduate studies, Alexis worked on multiple research projects that ranged from gene knockouts in yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae for determining gene regulation in association with the environmental stress response; as well as, engineering and manufacturing parts of U.S. issued (HMMWV) Humvees. Alexis earned a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Biochemistry from The University of Arizona.
