Banco por Salud (Wellness Bank)

The CDDOM El Banco por Salud (Wellness Bank) will serve as a resource of consented patients to facilitate connections between academic researchers and the community, in particular related to type 2 diabetes mellitus, but not limited to it. The Wellness Bank will create a biorepository, with specimens, patient data, and patients consented for contact for future studies and use of DNA in future studies. Community partners (see below) and their patients will benefit from increased knowledge of social and biological factors leading to poor glucose control and an emphasis on implementation of pharmacogenomics clinical decision support. Access to patients, data, and biospecimens will be made to available to all qualified and approved UA investigators who conduct projects that will advance knowledge and/or implement health care improvements. The goal of this Biobank is to recruit an estimated 500 per year.
