The Biorepository Service Unit serves as the coordinated infrastructure for the standardized collection, processing and banking, and allocation of high-quality biospecimens. The Biorepository Service Unit is responsible for providing full-service biospecimen banking operations including specimen collection and processing, storing and maintenance of up-to-date specimen inventory and specimen distribution.
This unit will provides the following services to researchers and investigators across the university for IRB approved (or determined to be exempt) studies/research initiatives:
- Preparing/processing samples for long-term storage
- Processing samples to support the research and request from investigators
- Accepting samples for cataloging and long-term storage
- Distribute samples and/or transfer samples based on established agreements, protocols, and approvals.
- Provide any other additional laboratory assistance to investigators based on established and approved research and laboratory protocols.
